BimlOnline Beta Launched!

We are excited to announce the release of BimlOnline Beta, the first web-based IDE for Biml. There are a few pretty cool features that we want to tell you about before you dive into using BimlOnline.

  1. Editor – This editor make it easy to author and edit Biml directly from the browser window. With full intellisense, you can increase your speed of development. Want to build a project? Just install the BimlOnline browser plug-in and you now have the ability to build a project that you’ve been working on.

  2. Package Importer – Ever wanted to take you SSIS packages and convert them to Biml? Now with the package importer you can do just that! Upload your ISPAC, DTProj, DTSX, Conmgr, Params, or .zip files and receive your generated Biml files back in your selected format.

  3. Documentation – With this feature you can view information about your project. Documentation is fully customizable and is updated in real-time as you make changes.

The best thing about BimlOnline is that you don’t have to download or install any software on your computer, and it’s free while in beta. With just an internet connection you can log in and begin developing your business intelligence or data solution.

I do not see a link to download the BimlOnline browser plug-in... I am on BimlOnline and the "Build" button is grayed out?!?!?

The build button will be grayed out until your project has compiled successfully. If you have errors in your project, that could prevent it from compiling. It's possible that the editor might need to be reset by refreshing the page and entering a few keystrokes. Once the project is compiled and you click the build button, BimlOnline will check for the build extension, and prompt you to install it if you don't have it.

Is there a 32 bit version of the install package?

Great promise, but not Beta, more Alpha. Can not parse a simple DTSX that performs a query returning a recordset that then exports data based on a foreach container. Nothing complex straight forward SSIS.

Same here, import dtsx with script component gives 'undefined' error. Import ispac skips packages...

Weird, cause the packages was generated by bidshelper / biml :)
